Electronic Brake Control Module: Description and Operation

COMPONENTS
The Electronic Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU) consists of the anti-lock brake control module and the hydraulic control unit (HCU).

NOTE: The anti-lock brake control module can be replaced if it is inoperative. If the HCU is inoperative, the EHCU must be replaced as an assembly.

PURPOSE
The EHCU monitors the electromechanical components of the system. Malfunction of the anti-lock brake system will cause the EHCU to shut off or inhibit the system. However, normal power-assisted braking remains. Malfunctions are indicated by the yellow ABS warning indicator in the instrument cluster.
