Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL and INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its fuel trim. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the fuel trim.

2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.
3. Loosen engine air cleaner tube clamps on air cleaner outlet tube. Disconnect air cleaner outlet tube from MAF sensor.
4. Remove MAF sensor from engine air tray and remove MAF sensor from vehicle.
5. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Align tab on MAF sensor with slot on engine air tray. Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamps to 2.3-3.2 Nm (21-28 lb in). Connect engine control sensor wiring to the IAT sensor and engine control sensor wiring.
