Head Rest: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Insert a 305 mm (12-inch) length of thin, flat stock into the front seat head rest guide rod sleeve at the front side of the post. Hold the spring clip out of the detent while withdrawing the front seat back head restraint.
2. Remove the front Seat head rest guide rod sleeve by pulling the front seat head rest guide rod sleeve out of the mounting bracket.

INSTALLATION
1. Install front seat head rest guide rod sleeve into the seat back flush with the top of the front seat back cover (open end of front seat head rest guide rod sleeve faces forward).
2. Install front seat back head restraint into sleeve (groove on head restraint shaft faces forward) into front seat head rest guide rod sleeve in the front seat back frame.







3. Adjust by applying hand pressure, either up or down, to the center of the front seat back head restraint.

NOTE: The front seat back head restraint must operate smoothly throughout its range of travel, must remain in any fixed position, and must not be freely removable from the seat back. If any of these conditions are not met, check for proper installation of positioning spring into front seat head rest guide rod sleeve.
