Keyless Entry Module: Description and Operation

The electronic door lock control processor is located behind the RH quarter trim panel.

The electronic door lock control processor contains a radio receiver that receives the identification code from its mated keyless entry remote transmitters via the electronic door lock control processor antenna, and sends the appropriate command to the power door locks and the illuminated entry system, the horn relay, and the indicator flasher. The electronic door lock control processor is equipped with a battery backup (not separately serviceable) which holds the Transmitter Identification Code (TIC) in memory in the event the vehicle battery is disconnected.

The electronic door lock control processor also controls the panic mode functions. Upon activation of the panic mode by pressing the keyless entry remote transmitter panic button, the electronic door lock control processor commands the Central Processing Unit (CPU) to activate the horn and hazard lamps for two minutes and forty five seconds. The electronic door lock control processor cancels the panic function if the panic button is pressed again, or it the ignition switch is turned to the ON or START position.
