Functional Check

DESCRIPTION
Check operation of the Power Steering Pressure (PSP) switch if either or both of the following conditions are noted:
- Engine stalls during parking maneuvers.
- Engine idles at high speed.

PROCEDURES
1. Disconnect the PSP switch electrical connector from the PSP switch.
2. Connect a continuity tester, 73 Digital Multimeter 105-R0051 or equivalent, across the PSP switch terminals.
3. Start the engine and let it idle.
4. The PSP switch should normally be closed (zero ohms-continuity) with the steering wheel straight ahead.
5. Turn the steering wheel toward either stop while watching the continuity tester. The PSP switch should open near the stops (no continuity or infinite reading on ohmmeter).
6. If the PSP switch fails either test, replace the PSP switch.
