Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

DESCRIPTION
The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a magnetic pickup that sends a signal to the powertrain control module. This VSS signal tells the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) the vehicle speed. This VSS signal is used to determine shift scheduling and electronic pressure control (EPC) control.

SYMPTOMS
Symptoms: Firm shift feel, abnormal shift schedules, unexpected downshifts may occur at closed throttle. No 4th gear. No engine braking in second or third gear. No torque converter clutch (TCC) application.
