Liftgate Latch

The liftgate latch is not adjustable. All adjustments are made to the liftgate/luggage compartment latch striker.

The liftgate latch has a two-stage latching mechanism. The first stage holds the liftgate closed, but does not hold it tight against the weatherstrips and seals. This may be called the secondary position.

This position will not open the switch that generates the "Liftgate Ajar" signal.

The second stage seals the liftgate against wind noise and water leaks. This may be called the primary position. This position also opens the switch that generates the "Liftgate Ajar" signal.
