Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Power Steering Line/Hose: Testing and Inspection

^ The power steering hoses use O-ring seals at the quick connect fittings. There are two possible leak points at the steering gear fittings.
^ A leak might occur between the (power steering pressure hose or power steering return hose ) and the hose nut.
^ A leak might occur between the hose nut and the aluminum steering gear housing or power steering pressure, return and pump outlet line connector.
^ Check the steering system by cycling the steering wheel from stop to stop one time with a hesitation at each stop which does not exceed five seconds. The engine is to be idling and the transaxle is to be in PARK or NEUTRAL. Following this maneuver, inspect vehicle for leaks.
