Final Drive Assembly - Disassembled View:

DISASSEMBLY






1. Remove No. 16 final drive gear thrust bearing and race from final drive assembly.





2. Remove park gear from final drive sun gear.





3. Remove final drive sun gear and deflector assembly from final drive assembly.





4. IF NECESSARY, remove speedometer drive gear.





5. IF NECESSARY, use a drift to drive out differential pinion shaft roll pin.





6. Use a drift to tap out the differential pinion shaft.





7. Rotate the output shaft to remove two differential pinion gears and two differential pinion thrust washers.





8. Remove RH differential side gear and differential side gear thrust washer from differential case.





9. Push output shaft towards center of differential housing. Slide LH differential side gear upward to gain access to retaining ring. Use snap ring pliers to remove retaining ring. Remove output shaft.





10. Remove differential side gear and differential side gear thrust washer.
