Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

NOTE:
Block Bolt Lubrication
Do not lubricate lower cylinder block to upper cylinder block retaining bolts.
Sealer Curing
Tighten all lower cylinder block-to-upper cylinder block retaining bolts within six minutes of installing lower cylinder block onto upper cylinder block.

Tighten lower cylinder block to upper cylinder block retaining bolts in sequence, as follows:

Step 2: Tighten fasteners 11 through 20 to 37-43 Nm (28-31 ft. lbs.).
Step 3: Rotate fasteners 1 through 20 an additional 85-95°.
Step 4: Tighten fasteners 21 through 31 to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.).
Step 5: Verify crankshaft rotates freely and does not bind. Clean any residual sealer from inside the cylinder block with a clean shop towel.
