Charging System: Description and Operation

The charging system consists of the following:
- generator (GEN) with integral Voltage Regulator (VR)
- charge indicator
- battery
- warning indicator in instrument cluster
- associated wiring

With the ignition switch in the RUN position:
- voltage is applied through the charge indicator I circuit to the voltage regulator.
- the voltage regulator is turned on, allowing current to flow from the battery sense A circuit to the generator field coil.
