Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Cleaning and Inspection

Wipe the ignition coil towers with a clean cloth dampened with soap and water. Remove any soap film and dry with compressed air. Inspect ignition coils for cracks, carbon tracking and dirt.

Component Tests

Ford does not provide specific component tests for the ignition system. If there are concerns with the ignition system, see Computers and Control Systems, Diagnosis by Symptom and follow directions for the symptom that the vehicle is exhibiting. Testing and Inspection
