Power and Ground Distribution: Service Precautions

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

If service of any module is required, use the following safeguards to avoid damage to components.

Disconnect electronic ignition module connector by:
1. Pushing down on connector locking tab marked PUSH.







2. Pull connector body out of module.

NOTE: The chart shows typical values for static charge generation.

3. Leave the electronic modules in their original packaging until ready to install in vehicles.
4. Avoid touching module connector pins.
5. Avoid laying modules on non-conductive surfaces.







6. As an added safeguard, use a 3M Static Protection Kit. This kit contains special wrist straps, a 15 inch x 24 inch flexible conductive mat, grounding cords and full instructions. It is available through local 3M suppliers.
