Automatic Transaxle

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) cable.





3. Disconnect the VSS electrical connector.





4. Remove the VSS bolt and VSS.





5. Remove driven gear.
- Remove driven gear retainer





6. Inspect the speedometer driven gear retainer O-ring for nicks and cuts. Replace if necessary.


INSTALLATION





1. Install the driven gear.

NOTE: Coat the driven gear bore with Motorcraft MERCON Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting MERCON specification.





2. To install, reverse removal procedure.
