REMOVAL





1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





2. Disconnect the VSS electrical connector.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.





4. Remove the VSS.

NOTE: Inspect the O-ring for damage.

1 Remove the retaining pin.
2 Remove the VSS.


INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:
- When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi.) or more to relearn the strategy.
- Lubricate O-ring with Motorcraft MERCON Multi-purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting MERCON specification.
