Service of Air Bag Equipped Vehicles Involved In Collisions

Air Bag Equipped Vehicles Involved In Collisions
While servicing an air bag-equipped vehicle that has been involved in a collision, check air bag electronic crash sensor (ECS) module and wiring.

Sensors
The air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module orientation is critical for proper air bag system operation. If a vehicle equipped with a driver air bag module and passenger air bag module is involved in a crash where the right cowl A-pillar area has been damaged, make sure that body structure in the area of the sensor mounting is restored to its original condition. Inspect the mounting and bracket for deformation.
^ Damaged ECS modules should be replaced whether or not the driver air bag module or passenger air bag module is deployed.
