Charging System: Description and Operation

The charging system is a 12-Volt negative ground system consisting of:
- Generator (GEN) with an integral rear mount Voltage Regulator (VR) and an internal fan.
- Battery.
- Charging system indicator.
- Electrical wiring and cables.

Battery Cable
The battery cables are integral to the engine wiring harness and cannot be replaced separately.

Generator/Voltage Regulator
The generator provides 75 amps, of direct current to charge the vehicle battery. It has an integral voltage regulator.






Charging System Indicator
The charging system indicator illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position and goes out as the engine is started and the charging system begins to operate. The indicator is located on the instrument cluster.
