Electronic Door Lock Control System
The electronic door lock system has two main components: the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module, attached to the upper LH corner of the instrument panel, and the three-button (hand held) keyless entry remote transmitter.
The door locks are controlled by the RAP module through three external relays located under the instrument panel relay cover
^ Driver unlock relay.
^ All unlock relay.
^ All lock relay.
The keyless entry remote transmitter initiates the following electronic door lock system functions:
^ Unlocks the driver door.
^ Unlocks all doors.
^ Locks all doors.
^ Enables the panic alarm.
^ Issues the interior lamps on (when unlocking) and off (when locking) commands to the generic electronic module (GEM).
^ Chirps the horn once when LOCK on the keyless entry remote transmitter is pressed twice, and the doors are closed.
^ Chirps the horn twice when LOCK on the keyless entry remote transmitter is pressed twice and a door is left open.
^ Deactivates a triggered perimeter alarm.
^ Arms and disarms the anti-theft system.
^ Allows up to four keyless entry remote transmitters to be programmed.
NOTE: The remote entry features will not function when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position.
The keyless entry remote transmitters are reprogrammable and must be set at the same time.
To unlock the driver door and disarm the anti-theft system, press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
NOTE: If more than five seconds have elapsed since the first press of the UNLOCK button, pressing the UNLOCK button again will only unlock the driver door a second time.
To unlock all the doors press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter a second time, within five seconds of the first unlock.
To lock all doors and arm the anti-theft system press the LOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter once.
To confirm that the doors have been locked and that the anti-theft system has armed, press the LOCK button again, within five seconds of the first press. The horn will chirp once if the doors have locked and all doors are closed. The horn will chirp twice if a door is open, indicating that the anti-theft system will not arm until all the doors are closed.
To activate the panic alarm press the red PANIC button on the keyless entry remote transmitter. The horn will sound and the headlamps and exterior lamps will flash for a maximum of two minutes and 45 seconds.
To deactivate the panic alarm press the red PANIC button again on the keyless entry remote transmitter or turn the ignition switch to RUN/ACC.
