Wiper Arm: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Turn multi-function switch to LO. Allow windshield wiper motor to move windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft three or four cycles, then turn multifunction switch OFF. This will place windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft in park position.
CAUTION: To prevent glass or paint damage, do not pry windshield wiper pivot arm from windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft with metal or sharp tool.
2. Remove windshield wiper pivot arm and windshield wiper blade. First, apply downward pressure on windshield wiper pivot arm head while holding windshield wiper pivot arm. Then, lift windshield wiper pivot arm to highest position. Using finger pressure only, grasp slide latch tab and slide latch out from under windshield wiper pivot arm head. Remove windshield wiper pivot arm and windshield wiper blade.
3. To remove windshield wiper blade, squeeze lock tab and push windshield wiper pivot arm away from windshield wiper blade.
4. Install windshield wiper blade onto new replacement windshield wiper pivot arm.
INSTALLATION
1. Position bottom surface of windshield wiper pivot arm parallel with top surface of cowl vent screen. Install windshield wiper pivot arm onto windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft with latch slide in unlatched (outward) position.
NOTE: Before installing the windshield wiper pivot arm to the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft, make sure the windshield wiper motor is in the park position and the windshield wiper blades are set to Dimension A (RH) or Dimension B (LH).
2. While applying downward pressure on windshield wiper pivot arm head to verify full seating, raise other end of windshield wiper pivot arm sufficiently to allow latch to slide under to latched position.
