Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Oxygen Sensor Wrench:






Special Tools Recommended

REMOVAL
1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.







2. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.







3. Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) from the exhaust manifolds.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.







5. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.







6. Remove the heated oxygen sensors from the exhaust pipe using the Oxygen Sensor Wrench.
- If necessary, lubricate the heated oxygen sensors with Ford Penetrating Lubricant E8AZ-19A501-B or equivalent to assist in removal.












INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
- Apply a light coat of Anti-Seize Compound F6AZ-9L494-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A to the threads of the heated oxygen sensors.
