Trunk / Liftgate Weatherstrip: Service and Repair

Removal

Liftgate Weatherstrip:






1. Loosen and pry away from body flange with a suitable tool.
2. Pull liftgate weatherstrip (404A06) outward and away from flange working upward, along the top, and around the opening.

Installation

1. Clean any residual adhesive or material from flange or body surface. Scrape carefully with a flat tool such as a putty knife or wipe with a cloth using Extra Strength Tar and Road Oil Remover B7A-1952-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M5B106-A.
2. Compress liftgate weatherstrip onto flange and continue working across or around opening.

NOTE: Do not stretch liftgate weatherstrip during installation.

3. Insert sponge plug into loose end of liftgate weatherstrip.
4. Cut liftgate weatherstrip, if necessary 6-12mm (3/16-3/8 inch) longer than required and butt ends together. Avoid overlapping liftgate weatherstrip.
