Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation
The
Intake Air Temperature sensor (IAT sensor):

changes resistance in response to intake air temperature.

decreases resistance as the surrounding air temperature increases, providing a signal to the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) indicating the temperature of the intake air.
