Flow of Diagnosis

NOTE: If any concerns are noted with the speedometer, the stoplamps or the horn, address those concerns, referring to their associated sections, before continuing speed control diagnosis.

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the speed control system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Refer to the Visual Inspection Chart.

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Speed control actuator cable
- Speed control actuator cable not attached to throttle body cam

Electrical
- Central Junction Box (CJB) Fuses:
- 6 (10A)
- 11 (15A)
- Battery Junction Box (BJB) Fuse 27 (15A)
- Wiring
- Loose, corroded or dirty connections
- Speed control actuator switches

3. If the inspection reveals an obvious concern that can be readily identified, repair as required.
4. Verify the speedometer operates correctly by driving the vehicle. If the speedometer does not operate correctly, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
5. If the vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine and the concern is still present after inspection, refer to the Powertrain Management.
