Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the engine Air Cleaner (ACL) and the air cleaner outlet tube.







4. Disconnect the A/C pressure cut-off switch electrical connector.







5. Move the compressor discharge line isolator.
1 Remove the screw.
2 Move the compressor discharge line isolator.







6. Disconnect the compressor suction line.

CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the A/C fitting.







7. Disconnect the compressor discharge line.

CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the A/C fitting.







8. Remove the A/C manifold and tube.
1 Loosen the screw.
2 Remove the A/C manifold and tube.

INSTALLATION
1. Service the new A/C manifold and tube with the proper amount of PAG compressor oil, Motorcraft YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA, or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.







2. Install the A/C manifold and tube.
1 Lubricate the new A/C manifold O-rings with PAG compressor oil, Motorcraft YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA, or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B and install the O-rings on the A/C compressor.
2 Install the A/C manifold and tube.
3 Apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon(R) D8AZ-19554-DA or equivalent meeting Ford Specification WSK-M2G350-A2 to the threads of the A/C manifold retaining bolt and install the bolt.







3. Connect the compressor discharge line.
1 Lubricate the new O-rings with PAG compressor oil, Motorcraft YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA, or equivalent meeting Ford Specification WSH-M1C231-B and install the O-rings.
2 Connect the compressor-to-condenser core fitting.

CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the A/C fitting.







4. Connect the compressor suction line.
1 Lubricate the new O-rings with PAG compressor oil, Motorcraft YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA, or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B and install the O-rings.
2 Connect the compressor suction line.

CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the A/C fitting.







5. Install the compressor discharge line isolator.
1 Install the compressor discharge line isolator.
2 Install the screw.







6. Connect the A/C pressure cut-off switch electrical connector.
7. Install the engine air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube.
8. Reconnect the battery ground cable.
9. Evacuate and charge the A/C system.
