Flow of Diagnosis

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
^ Power window regulator.
^ Window run weatherstrip.
^ Door window glass.

Electrical

^ Central Junction Box Circuit Breaker 43 (20 A), Fuse 39 (5 A) or 23 (15 A).
^ Battery Junction Box Fuse HTD BL (40 A).
^ Generic Electronic Module (GEM).
^ Window regulator control switch.
^ Window regulator motor.
^ Heated rear window relay.
^ Heated rear window switch.
^ Heated rear window grid.
^ Loose, corroded connectors.

3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the NGS tester does not power up, review the New Generation STAR tester manual.
5. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the NGS tester responds with:
^ CKT914, CKT915 or CKT170=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Information Bus.
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for the Generic Electronic Module (GEM), go to Pinpoint Test A. A: No Communication With Generic Electronic Module
^ System passed, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the GEM.

6. If the GEM DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the GEM DTC Index. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
