Backing Plate: Testing and Inspection

1. Inspect bolts retaining rear brake backing plate to rear wheel spindle for proper tightness.
2. Inspect the brake and shoe lining contact pads (where the brake shoes, and linings rest).
^ Deep grooves in the brake shoe and lining contact pads could restrict brake shoe and lining movement.
^ If the grooves are present in braking surface, the rear brake backing plate must be replaced. Inspect all other brake parts and replace any that are worn or damaged.
