Battery: Description and Operation

Vehicles are equipped with a 12 volt maintenance-free battery. The battery stores, stabilizes, and delivers electrical current to operate various electrical systems in the vehicle. The battery is vented to release gases that are created when the battery is being charged. The battery is equipped with a test indicator built into the battery cover. When the test indicator appears clear, the electrolyte level is below the top of the plates inside the battery, and a new battery must be installed.
