Water Pump: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the engine cooling fan.
3. Remove the drive belt.





4. Remove the water pump pulley.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the water pump pulley.





5. Remove the bolts.





6. Remove the (A) water pump from the (B) cylinder block.
^ Clean and inspect the mating surfaces.

Installation





1. Install the water pump.
1. Lubricate the new O-ring seal using Premium engine coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (in Oregon F5FZ-19549-CC; in Canada CXC-8-B) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M971344-A and install the O-ring seal onto the water pump.
2. Position the water pump into the engine block.
3. Install the bolts.





2. Position the pulley onto the water pump and install the bolts.
3. Install the accessory drive belt.
4. Install the fan and fan clutch.
5. Refill the cooling system.
