Retrieving DTCs

NOTE: Always retrieve Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTCs before Alternative Fuel Control Module (AFCM) DTCs.

1. Key off.
2. Verify that the proper memory (diagnostic) card is inserted into the diagnostic tool.
3. Connect the on-board diagnostics II (OBD II) Data Link Connector (DLC) cable to the diagnostic tool.
4. Connect the diagnostic tool with OBD II DLC cable securely into the vehicle OBD II DLC.
5. Connect the diagnostic tool power supply cable to the vehicle.

NOTE: KOER and KOEO tests cannot be performed in ALT fuel mode.

6. Key ON or start the vehicle it necessary. The diagnostic tool is ready to communicate with the vehicle Alternative Fuel Control Module (AFCM).
7. Select VEHICLE & ENGINE SELECTION (OPTIONAL).
8. Select NEW VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL (OPTIONAL).
9. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK.
10. Select AFCM -ALTERNATE FUEL CTRL MODULE.
- This module supports some DTCs and PIDs which appear similar to the PCM but may have an entirely different meaning.
11. Select DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES.
12. Select RETRIEVE/CLEAR CONTINUOUS DTCs.
13. Select START.
14. To disconnect the tool, turn key OFF and disconnect the diagnostic tool from the OBD II DLC and power supply.
