Rear Cross-Member: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Remove the stabilizer bar. For additional information, refer to Stabilizer Bar

2. CAUTION: Make sure the wheel knuckles are supported before removing the suspension arms.

Remove the rear lower arms. For additional information, refer to Rear Lower Arm.
3. Remove the front lower arms. For additional information, refer to Front Lower Arm.
4. Remove the upper arms. For additional information, refer to Upper Arm.

5. NOTE: Support the exhaust system to prevent damage.





Detach the exhaust system bracket.
3-door and 4-door
6. Remove the evaporative emission canister.
All Vehicles
7. Using a suitable transmission jack, support the rear crossmember.





8. Remove the crossmember retaining bolts (three bolts each side).
9. Lower and remove the crossmember.

Installation





1. Locate the crossmember.





2. Install the crossmember retaining bolts (three bolts each side).
3-door and 4-door
3. Install the evaporative emission canister.
All Vehicles
4. Install the exhaust system.

5. NOTE: Do not lower the suspension from the design height.

Install the upper arms. For additional information, refer to Upper Arm.

6. NOTE: Do not lower the suspension from the design height.

Install the front lower arms. For additional information, refer to Front Lower Arm.

7. NOTE: Do not lower the suspension from the design height.

Install the rear lower arms. For additional information, refer to Rear Lower Arm.
8. Install the stabilizer bar. For additional information, refer to Stabilizer Bar.
9. Check the rear wheel alignment.
