Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Disassembly

1. NOTE: Inspect and test the shift solenoids. GO to Pinpoint Test A.

NOTE: The solenoid body cannot be disassembled to clean and inspect for contamination. Contamination is a major source of solenoid body failure. Install a new solenoid body anytime contamination is evident.

Clean and inspect the solenoid body.
- Check the connector pins for corrosion and possible bent condition.
- If large amounts of contamination are present a new solenoid body will need to be installed.
- Remove O-ring and discard.
- Install new O-ring and lubricate with petroleum jelly or equivalent.
