Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Remove the air cleaner housing.







3. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the suction accumulator.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Disconnect the refrigerant lines.
- Discard the O-ring seals.







4. Remove the bolt.
5. Remove the radiator grille.







6. Remove the three pin type retainers.







7. Position forward the radiator air deflector.







8. Remove the nut and remove the suction accumulator.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- If a new suction accumulator is to be installed, lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent.
- Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean PAG oil or equivalent.

2. Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system.
