Auxiliary Climate Control

REMOVAL

NOTE:
- Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
- The auxiliary evaporator core is not separately serviceable. It is serviced only with the auxiliary climate control housing.

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Position aside the LH rear quarter trim panel.







3. Disconnect the condensation drain tube.







4. Remove the thermostatic expansion valve.
1 Disconnect the lines.
2 Remove the thermostatic expansion valve.

CAUTION: Use a backup wrench at the fitting to prevent damage to the evaporator core.







5. Disconnect the wiring harness.
1 Disconnect the electrical connectors.
2 Detach the electrical connector pin type retainer.







6. Disconnect the vertical air duct from the auxiliary climate control housing.







7. Remove the bolt.







8. Remove the bolt.







9. Remove the nut.







10. Disconnect the rear auxiliary outlet line spring-lock coupling from the auxiliary evaporator core outlet.







11. Position aside the auxiliary climate control housing.







12. Remove the insulating tape.
- Retain the insulating tape for reuse.







13. Detach the temperature sensing bulb from the auxiliary evaporator core outlet line.
- Remove and retain the clip for reuse.







14. Using suitable tools, crimp the heater hoses.







15. Disconnect the heater hoses from the auxiliary heater core.







16. Remove the auxiliary climate control housing.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-rings lubricated in PAG oil.
- Clean and lubricate the coolant hoses with MERPOL(R) or plain water only if needed.

2. Top-off the engine coolant level.
3. Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system.
