Flex Plate: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Remove the transmission.





2. Remove the flexplate bolts.

Installation

1. NOTE:
- Engine balancing is not required. Balance weights should not be installed on the new flywheel.
- Special nuts are used for installation. Do not use standard nuts.





Install the flexplate. Tighten the nuts in the sequence shown in three stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 2: Tighten to 80 Nm (50 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 3: Tighten to 112 Nm (83 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the transmission.
