Starter Motor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

CAUTION: When repairing the starter motor or performing other underhood work in the vicinity of the starter motor, be aware that the heavy gauge battery input lead at the starter solenoid is electrically hot at all times. Failure to follow these instructions could lead to personal injury.

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.







3. Remove the three starter retaining bolts.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Remove the starter motor from block mounting surface to gain access for wiring.







6. Remove the integral connector.
^ Remove the nuts.
^ Remove the integral connector.
7. Remove the starter motor from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
