Alternator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Relieve the accessory drive belt tension and remove the belt from the generator pulley. Leave the belt in place for reinstallation.







3. Disconnect the generator wiring harness.
^ Remove the nut and disconnect the B+ cable.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
^ Release the harness locator.







4. Remove the generator bracket.
^ Remove the bolts and stud.







5. Remove the generator.
^ Loosen the lower generator bolts.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

CAUTION: Be sure to hand-start the generator battery positive cable nut to prevent cross-threading.
