Removal and Installation

WARNING: When carrying out maintenance on the starting system be aware that heavy gauge leads are connected directly to the battery. Make sure protective caps are in place when maintenance is completed.

All vehicles

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Raise and support the vehicle.

4x4 vehicles

3. If equipped remove the bolts and position aside the front axle dampener.






All vehicles


4. Remove the starter motor solenoid terminal cover.






5. Disconnect the starter wires.






6. Remove the nut and the starter ground cable.






7. Remove the bolt the stud bolt and the starter motor.






8. To install reverse the removal procedure.
