Normal Operation
The PCM communicates with the diagnostic tool through the controller area network (CAN). Circuits 4-EC7 (GY/RD) and 5-EC7 (BU/RD) receive and transmit data from the PCM to the data link connector (DLC) through in-line C219. Degraded CAN performance occurs if one bus line is open, shorted to ground or voltage, or if one but not all termination resistors are lost.
