Removal and Installation

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.

1. Remove the cowl.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.





3. Disconnect the accelerator and speed control cables.





4. Position the bracket aside.





5. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve and throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connectors.





6. Disconnect the evaporative emissions return tube.





7. Remove the fuel tube retaining clip and the wire harness pin-type retainers.





8. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.





9. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) vacuum regulator solenoid electrical and vacuum connections.





10. Disconnect the vacuum hose.





11. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum tube.





12. Disconnect the differential pressure feedback EGR system electrical and vacuum connections.





13. Disconnect the PCV hose.





14. Position the spark plug wires aside.





15. Remove the upper intake manifold.





16. Remove the upper intake manifold spacer.








17. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the upper intake manifold spacer and the upper intake manifold in the sequences shown.
