Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Removal and Installation
1. Remove the anchor plate.
2. Match-mark the brake disc with a wheel stud.
^ This will make sure the lowest brake disc runout is maintained during reassembly.

3. CAUTION: If excessive force must be used during brake disc removal, the brake disc Total Indicated Runout (TIR) must be checked at installation.

NOTE: If the brake disc cannot be removed easily, apply rust penetrant on brake disc to wheel hub mating surfaces.

Remove the retention ring and the brake disc.
^ Discard the retention ring.

4. NOTE: Install a new retention ring.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Clean any rust or foreign material from the brake disc, wheel and wheel hub.
^ Use Brake Parts Cleaner PM-4 or equivalent to clean the brake disc and hub surfaces.
^ Apply High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant XL-2 or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A to the hub mounting surface to prevent future corrosion.
