Mirrors: Description and Operation
REAR VIEW MIRRORSThe rear view mirrors consist of the following components:
- exterior rear view mirrors (heated, optional)
- exterior mirror control switch
- auto-dimming interior rear view mirror (optional)
- interior rear view mirror
The exterior rear view mirrors have the following features.
- electrically adjustable using the exterior mirror control switch, or can be manually adjusted
- optional heated function that is controlled by the heated rear window system
The auto-dimming autolamp interior rear view mirror:
- has an automatic dimming feature that controls the interior rear view mirror thereby reducing glare
- houses two sensors to determine auto dimming actuation and autolamp actuator
- defaults to the NORMAL setting when the transmission is shifted to REVERSE, allowing a bright view for backing up
- autolamp feature is disabled by pressing the mirror-mounted switch to the OFF position
- has an indicator to inform the driver the autolamp feature is ON
- if equipped, houses the autolamp photocell sensor
- auto-dimming feature is always on
