Push Rod Cleaning and Inspection





Special Tool(s)

1. Clean the push rods in a suitable solvent. Blow out the oil passage in the push rods with compressed air.

2. CAUTION: Do not attempt to straighten push rods.





Check the ends of the rods for nicks, grooves, roughness or excessive wear. Install new push rods as necessary.
- The push rods can be checked for straightness while they are installed in the vehicle by rotating them with the valve closed.
- They can also be checked using a Dial Indicator Gauge with Holding Fixture.
3. If the push rod is bent beyond specification, install a new push rod.
