Removal

All vehicles
1. Raise and support the vehicle.

4x4 vehicles





2. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the transfer case.





3. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the front differential.





4. Remove the front driveshaft from the vehicle.

All vehicles





5. Remove the shift cable and bracket.





6. Disconnect the Intermediate Shaft Speed (ISS) sensor electrical connector.





7. Remove the ISS sensor.
1 Remove the ISS sensor screw.
2 Remove the ISS sensor from the transmission.
^ Inspect the ISS sensor O-ring for damage. If damaged, install a new O-ring.

Installation

All vehicles





1. Inspect the O-ring seal for damage. Install a new seal if damaged. Lubricate the O-ring seal with petroleum jelly to prevent damage to the O-ring seal.
1 Install the ISS sensor into the transmission.
2 Tighten the ISS sensor screw.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





2. Connect the ISS sensor electrical connector.





3. Install the shift cable and bracket.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

4x4 vehicles





4. Install the front driveshaft in the vehicle.





5. Install the front driveshaft to the transfer case.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).





6. Install the front driveshaft to the front differential.
^ Tighten to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
