THROTTLE PEDAL RESPONSE/TIP IN HESITATION -
VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO 1/31/2005 - 4.6L ENGINE

ISSUE
Some 2005 F-150 vehicles built before 1/31/2005 and equipped with the 4.6L engine, may exhibit issues related to throttle pedal response hesitation on tip in, or the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with one or more of the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
^ P0172 - SYSTEM TOO RICH (BANK 1)
^ P0175 - SYSTEM TOO RICH (BANK 2)
^ P0171 - SYSTEM TOO LEAN (BANK 1)
^ P0174 - SYSTEM TOO LEAN (BANK 2)
ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using WDS release B35.6 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
NOTE
THROTTLE PEDAL RESPONSE WITH ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC) DIFFERS FROM RESPONSE WITH A THROTTLE CABLE. REPROGRAMMING THE PCM WILL IMPROVE, BUT MAY NOT ELIMINATE, THIS CONDITION.
