Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes

Without Auxiliary Fluid Cooler:







With Auxiliary Fluid Cooler:








Removal
1. If not done previously, carry out the transmission fluid cooler flow test procedure.
2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
3. Remove the bolts and the skid plate (four wheel drive [4WD] vehicles).





4. Remove the fasteners and position the air deflector aside.





5. Disconnect the fluid cooler tubes from the transmission case.
6. Remove the secondary latches from the fluid cooler tubes.
7. Remove the fluid cooler tubes from the bracket.
8. Remove the cooler tubes from the retainer.
9. Using the special tool, disconnect the fluid cooler tubes from the radiator, and if equipped, the fluid cooler.





Installation
1. Install the fluid cooler tube(s).
^ Tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





2. Connect the fluid cooler tubes to the bracket.
3. Install the fluid cooler tubes to the retainer.
4. Connect the fluid cooler tubes to the radiator and the auxiliary fluid cooler if equipped.
5. Install the secondary latches onto the cooler tubes.
6. Position the air deflector and install the fasteners.





7. Position the skid plate and install the bolts (4WD vehicles).
^ Tighten to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).





8. Fill the transmission with clean automatic transmission fluid specified for this transmission.
9. Check for leaks.
