Removal and Installation

All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Unsnap the electrical connector heat shield.

Vehicles with secondary air injection







4. Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the wiring retainers.

5. NOTE: If necessary, lubricate the catalyst monitor sensors (CMS) with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.

Using a 22-mm crowfoot wrench, remove the CMS.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

Vehicles without secondary air injection







6. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the wiring retainer.

7. NOTE: If necessary, lubricate the catalyst monitor sensor with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.

Using a 22-mm crowfoot wrench, remove the CMS.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

All vehicles

8. CAUTION:
- Make sure that the electrical connector locking tab is engaged.
- Make sure that the sensor wiring is secured with all retainers and routed away from hot surfaces and sharp edges.


NOTE: Make sure to apply anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the sensors before installation.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
