Removal and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

3. NOTE: Make sure that the block heater wiring is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components upon installation.

Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.

4. CAUTION: Do not loosen the block heater retaining screw more than necessary.

Loosen the block heater retaining screw.
^ To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs).
5. Remove the block heater.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Clean and inspect the engine block mating surface before installing the block heater. Lubricate the block heater seal and the cylinder block hole with clean engine coolant to ease installation.
7. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
