Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Test D: The Speed Control Does Not Disengage When The Brakes Are Applied

PINPOINT TEST D: THE SPEED CONTROL DOES NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED

D1-D2:

D3-D5:

D5-D8:

Normal Operation
When the speed control actuator no longer receives voltage on circuit 535 (LB/RD), the speed control actuator deactivates the speed control system. When the brake pedal is applied and the speed control deactivator switch opens, battery voltage is removed from circuit 535 (LB/RD) to the speed control actuator. When the brake pedal is lightly pushed, the stoplamp switch closes. This causes the speed control actuator to deactivate the speed control system. When the brake pedal is applied with more force, the speed control deactivator switch opens, removing battery voltage from circuit 535 (LB/RD) to the speed control actuator. When the speed control actuator no longer receives voltage on circuit 535 (LB/RD), the speed control actuator deactivates the speed control system.

Possible Causes
- Bussed electrical center (BEC)
- Circuit 535 (LB/RD) short to voltage
- Speed control deactivator switch
- Stoplamp switch
- Speed control actuator
