Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Suspension Control Module: Service and Repair

Vehicle Dynamics Module (VDM)

Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

1. NOTE: The vehicle dynamics module (VDM) is mounted to the lower left side of the dash above the parking brake control.

Disconnect the 2 VDM electrical connectors.
2. Remove the VDM bracket nuts and the module.
^ To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-inch).

3. NOTE: The VDM is calibrated with information from the ride height sensors. A new or exchanged VDM requires that the LH and RH ride height sensors are calibrated and a pneumatic test is carried out. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Dynamic Suspension Calibration Initialize System - Clear C1990 and C1991 DTCs.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
