Removal and Installation
1. Rotate the crankshaft until the piston is at the top of its stroke with both the intake valve and the exhaust valve closed.
2. Remove the rocker arm.

3. NOTE: If a valve drops into the cylinder, remove the cylinder head.

Hold the valve in the cylinder head.
^ Remove the spark plug.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
^ Apply a minimum of 689 kPa (100 psi) of compressed air to the cylinder.
4. Using the special tool, compress the valve spring.





5. Remove the valve spring retainer keys, the valve spring retainer and the valve spring.
6. Inspect the components.

7. NOTE: Do not release the compressed air from the cylinder until after the valve spring keys are installed.

NOTE: Lubricate the components with clean engine oil.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
